“Every rose has its thorns…”

Apparently the movie examines the duality of the feminine. Modestly thought of as supportive and nurturing, the archetype of female has now taken a turn to the carnal bloodlust of female desire. A burgeoning post pubescent woman gets a warm feeling “down there” only to find tiny “appendages” on her Labia Minora.

The films dark tone adds up to major shocks and funny moments that help take the edge off. The number of men grabbing their jocks will be hilarious. The observation of a woman’s sexuality and her femininity clashing with societies archaic parameters as she embarks on these new sexual encounters, creates a dialogue of female empowerment.

As she begins to take control and own her sexuality the men around her get devoured by her desires, literally. Their fear starts to look more like confused fumbling rather than literal castration.

What is a man in this equation once a woman has her power? What does that mean for his own sexuality? And what do men do about their new role in this equation, become violent, by taking what they desire or complacent, by letting her desire take him?

Do men have a personal fear of castration through a woman’s sexual self empowerment?

I say, “Come and take a little time to smell the roses, boys.”
